Steel roofing brings architectural detail and factory-finished color to the right home. The decision is about more than replacing one surface with another: roof shape, pitch, valleys, walls and skylights all influence the complete assembly.
Choose the profile. EDCO offers steel roofing with shake and slate styling, including ArrowLine Shake and Slate, Generations HD Shake and Infiniti Textured Shake. These are steel products with different visual character—not natural slate or cedar. Review a physical sample beside your siding, brick and trim before choosing the finish.
Plan the whole roof. We review the deck, underlayment, flashing, ventilation and drainage before recommending a system. The proposal should identify tear-off, concealed-deck repair allowances, roof-to-wall transitions and the treatment of chimneys, pipes and skylights. A new covering should not hide unresolved water-entry problems.
Account for winter. Discuss where snow and ice could move above doors, walks, decks and gutters, and whether the selected assembly needs a snow-retention plan. Metal roofing alone does not cure ice dams. An attic review should consider air leakage, insulation and ventilation when the house has a history of winter trouble.
Compare exact options. Color, texture, accessories and published ratings depend on the selected collection. Ask for the product name and finish in writing. Do not assume every metal roof has the same construction, appearance or storm performance.
Separate the warranties. Product and finish coverage are different from installation workmanship. Review the applicable EDCO warranty for exclusions, registration, transfer requirements and any limits on labor. Keep the product selection, installer scope and warranty documents together.
Plan for ownership. Keep drainage paths clear and arrange safe inspections after major storms or work by another trade. Follow the manufacturer’s care guidance for cleaning and repairs; avoid unapproved coatings or rooftop traffic.
