Hardware & Finish

The details you touch every day should feel as good as they look. Coordinate handles, locks, hinges and finishes with the way your household uses the entrance.

ProVia — The Professional Way

Start with everyday use

A handle is more than a finishing touch. Think about arriving with groceries, opening the door with gloves and letting family members in. Try the shape and motion before choosing by appearance alone. A lever, knob or grip handle can feel very different in daily use.

We review the door swing, handle clearance, lock preparation and any nearby storm door together. Hardware must fit the selected door system. Matching the finish is not enough if the parts are incompatible or the handle interferes with another opening.

Choose how you want to lock up

A keyed lock is familiar and straightforward. A keypad can make everyday access more convenient, but it adds batteries, code management and a backup-entry plan to consider. Connected features vary by model; we confirm the functions and compatibility of the exact hardware before ordering.

Some entry systems offer multipoint hardware, with locking engagement at more than one location. Ask how the selected system operates and which door configurations support it. More locking points do not replace a sound frame, correct fastening or careful installation.

ProVia lists hardware from several manufacturers. The right comparison is the available handle and lock package for your chosen door—not every option in a hardware catalog. We record the model, finish, handing and included pieces in the proposal.

Bring the finishes together

A painted door creates a different impression from a stained wood-grain surface. Choose the panel finish first, then hold hardware samples beside it. Consider the interior view as well as the exterior, including nearby lighting, hinges, trim and any storm-door handle.

Finish names are not a guarantee of an exact match across brands. Review actual samples in your home’s light. On real wood, the species and natural grain influence the final appearance; on fiberglass, the selected texture and finish system work together. We confirm available combinations for the exact door line.

Specify the whole package

A clear order identifies the handle set, lock type, hinge finish, door handing, panel finish and any accessories. Ask whether interior and exterior hardware are included and whether a storm door changes clearance. For replacement work, existing holes and preparation may limit a simple hardware-only swap.

At installation, smooth latching and consistent operation matter. Hardware should not be used to force a poorly aligned door into place. Frame condition, hinge adjustment and weather seals belong in the same conversation.

Price, care and warranty

Specialty finishes, upgraded handles, electronic access and compatible multipoint systems can change the cost. Compare packages within the same door and installed scope. A straightforward option may meet your needs without adding features you will not use.

Keep the care instructions and written warranties for both the door finish and the hardware. Coverage may differ by component and finish. Use the recommended cleaning method, avoid abrasive products and ask who handles a service claim before ordering.
